For many years my entire family got together on Christmas Day...grandparents, aunts, uncles, and all the cousins. This was quite a crowd and there was no way we could all exchange presents so we began playing the traditional 'white elephant' or 'greedy Santa' game amongst the crowd. Everyone brought one gift and the tradition began. Many years the game was made even more fun when some people began 'hiding' money inside the gifts. So while you may think you were opening a traditional hat and gloves...you really had a $20 bill inside somewhere. None of my family members are 'rolling in the dough' so the mere sight of the green stuff brought shrieks of laughter and screaming! It would be so funny!
