Happy Halloween!

we got a head start on halloween
because we had 4 costumes that were all the perfect size for her now
of course we had to try them all
we've been practicing 'trick or treat' all week!

i had a little party at my house on halloween night
i just love halloween night...seeing all the little kids dressed up
and living in a neighborhood where you can actually trick or treat!

molly had a great time!
i'm exhausted! ha!!
here's a look at her and all of her beautiful costumes:

i bought this dress at a consignment store for $4...try finding a disney dress for that anywhere else?  and to find them in 18 month sizes is more difficult. it is beautiful, but not comfortable.  very itchy and scratchy.  the shoes were from a consignment store also.
aunt ambre gave her the beginnings of this costume...the skirt.  then i saw the tights and shoes in a consignment store and bought the shirt on etsy.
aunt judy gave her this one, it was so cute!  we went to cracker barrel and ate dinner in this costume and she literally drew a crowd of about 15 people when we left...all enamored by the cute little ladybug with the squeaky shoes!  several ladies took her picture, one lady was about in tears b/c her daughter had the same costume at this age and she is now 15 years old.  (made me enjoy the night even more...realizing how quickly this time will pass), one lady went to the car to get her husband to come back into the store to see her!  it was hilarious!

aunt ambre bought her this costume and it was a perfect fit.  she just loved the wings on it and pretending to fly.  she also loved the makeup!

what is your favorite costume??

pumpkin carving

another first with molly...pumpkin carving!
i knew she would love seeing what was inside of the pumpkin once we cut it open
and yes, she was so curious!

but, she went ahead and stuck her fingers in it even though she doesn't usually like to be slimy

once we got all the innards out it was time to carve.
do you know how long it's been since i last carved a pumpkin??
can't really even remember it's been so long!
nothin' fancy, just the basics here.
still curious...what's inside?

Namesakes

My mom was the 4th girl born
Grandma named her Gloria Diane
Gloria because she was born 2 days before Christmas
Diane because she liked it I guess
a few years later, after mom was in Elementary school her oldest sister Shelby told her she should spell her name Dyeanne because she saw someone famous spell their name that way.
She thought it would be much "prettier".
So my mom did what she was told and just changed the name of her spelling when she was in 5th grade.
She goes by Dyeanne and not Gloria.
I'm not sure if Grandma Sherrill really ever knew what the sisters had cooked up in changing her name.
But, it became her official name and is on all of her important documents except her birth certificate.
It has the original spelling.
So...my mom's niece Kim (pictured here in purple) is named
Kimberly Dyeanne (she was the first to take on mom's middle name, her mom is Shelby)
then I came along, Amy Dyeanne
Kim's first daughter also has the name, Hailey Dyeanne
(Hailey was not with us this weekend to make this picture totally complete:()
and  now my daughter carries on the name and the more unique spelling, Molly Dyeanne

(Oh and btw, my cousin Kim is the mother of 11 kids ages 8-30 and the grandma to 1!  Can you believe that???)

teacher videos

these would be more funny if they were real actors, but the content is hilarious if you are a teacher!  watch the entire thing!!

*this last one has some language in it...just a warning. children should not watch it:)

2 year doctor appointment

This week we went to Molly's two year doctor appointment.  she was all smiles until the very end...

Right after these pictures were taken she got two shots, the flu mist, a TB skin test, and they had to take 2 vials of blood...the nurse didn't hit a vein on the first try so we had to poke her again in the other arm.  OUCH!  talk about screaming and crying!  It was a tough few minutes, but everything is fine now.  She is a healthy little girl and is growing every day!

2 year old stats:
height: 33"
weight:  24 pounds
head circumference:  47 cm
clothing:  18 - 24 months
shoe size: 5 1/2
diaper size: 4
favorite food:  milk...it's her #1 requested thing to eat or drink, she also loves noodles, pasta, and oatmeal
favorite song:  you are my sunshine
favorite book:  Llama, Llama Mad at Mama
favorite video:  Barney's Halloween party
favorite thing to do:  be with Mama 24/7...she is officially my shadow after this week of fall break!  We have been inseparable!
Cutest thing:  she just started walking into a room where I am and saying "doing?" in the cutest question voice you've ever seen.  She is also very affectionate and gives me kisses all the time, often going from the lips, to one cheek, and then the other cheek!

I'm praying for a healthy year ahead with a not so bad "terrible two's" phase...a mom can dream, right?

Merry Christmas

Just in case you haven't thought about it,
you have two months until Christmas!
Get started early for a less stressful holiday.
Of course, you know that I am really looking forward to Christmas this year.  I have many things planned.
All of Molly's Christmas is already purchased.
All of her Christmas attire is ready and waiting.
Traditions are planned out in my head.
We've been listening to Christmas music in the car on the way to daycare in the mornings, because that is what I do...listen to Christmas music beginning in October.
It turns out, Molly loves Christmas music too!
Her two most requested songs are:
1.  Bing Crosby's Mele Kalikimaka
(she dances around in her car seat when she hears this and it is so funny!)
2.  Angels Have Head on High
(she will sing the "Gloria" part and it is so cute!)
