weekend getaway

over president's day holiday we took a little weekend trip to pigeon forge, tn
this was molly's first vacation since this weekend disaster
and now, nearly 2 years later, she did wonderful!

a great reminder that attachment and bonding is strong
we ate lunch at the old mill restaurant on the river
and molly loved feeding the ducks and pigeons outside
 it was a beautiful weekend!

while in pigeon forge we always stay at the inn at christmas place right on the main strip
it is beautiful, clean, and has an amazing free breakfast each morning!

the entire hotel is decorated for christmas 24/7
playing christmas carols, serving milk and cookies each night, and holiday cider every day
it is the quintessential place to stay if you love the holidays!
and we LOVE the holidays in our family!

this was such a wonderful experience...
each saturday night "santa" comes to sing with the kids at the hotel
after he sings they serve milk and cookies and you can get pictures with santa
and he sings really good!  it's been the same santa for a long time!
i have my picture with him when i was a teenager...probably 20 ish years ago!
(before the inn opened he sang at the christmas store across the street)
i look so bad, but we're posing "cheek to cheek" as she says
we mailed a thank you letter to santa for all of the goodies we got at christmas!

we met up with my aunts from north carolina
there are 4 sisters and 2 brothers among my mom's siblings
 mom, brenda, judy, and shelby
all the christmas trees at the christmas store across from the inn
i'd love to have the pink one!!

the cuckoo clock chimes every hour  and the bells to the side of it ring and play christmas carols

she loves to spot nutcrackers ever since we saw the ballet this winter

the funniest part was the drive back home
when we left on friday it was a gorgeous, sunny 65 degree day
on the way back home, sunday afternoon the rain changed to snow and we drove through a winder wonderland
literally!

which made the trip beautiful but longer
by the time we got back to nashville it was just raining
we haven't had a snow all winter and it makes me so sad!

i'm hoping next winter will be better in the snow department for us!

we had a good weekend, but it honestly seems to take me a whole week to catch up after a quick getaway like that!

We love that area, and the Old Mill is our favorite place to eat! :)

Amy,
Glad you and Molly were able to get away and that she did well with it. I've never been to Pigeon Forge (sp?) but it sounds like fun. Love that hotel! Glad you had fun!
